This bill adds “edible medical marijuana products” to the list of legal forms of medical marijuana permitted to be sold in the PA program. This would be defined to mean “a medical marijuana product intended for human consumption, in whole or in part, by oral ingestion” and would not include existing legal forms of medical marijuana such as capsules, oils, or tinctures.
The Department of Health would be required to adopt regulations for the sale of edible products, including regulations related to the packaging, labeling, and appearance of the products. This could also include additional food safety requirements for the processing of edible products by growers.
This would be effective 30 days after approval.
